The government led by CM Yogi Adityanath has taken another key decision to completely eradicate caste discrimination in Uttar Pradesh . The state government has implemented strict rules as per the recent directions of the Allahabad High Court to eliminate caste references in the society . To this end, it issued clear orders to all district authorities on Sunday night.
These orders, which are to come into effect immediately, have become a topic of discussion across the state. According to the latest orders, mentioning the caste of the accused in police records has been completely banned across the state. It has been decided that caste should not be mentioned in case memos, arrest documents and even on boards in police stations. However, it has been suggested that from now on, the name of the accused’s father as well as the mother’s name should be recorded in the records. The government has warned that if caste names, slogans or stickers indicating caste are pasted on government and private vehicles, fines will be imposed under the Motor Vehicles Act .
It also ordered officials to immediately remove boards and signs with caste names in towns and villages.
