
“Girls should stay away from live-in relationships” – Governor warns
Uttar Pradesh (UP) Governor Anandiben Patel has once again expressed her concern over live-in relationships. She advised girls to stay away from such relationships. Otherwise, she said, we are seeing incidents of brutal murders at the hands of partners, which is very sad.

Anandiben Patel addressed the 47th convocation of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth in Varanasi. “Live-in relationships have become a fashion among today’s youth. But please stay away from it,” she warned. She said that incidents of violence between partners have been increasing in recent times and that they have deeply disturbed her.
Focus on awareness programs
Uttar Pradesh (UP) Governor Anandiben Patel said that a judge had also expressed concern over such incidents and said that awareness programmes need to be organised at the university level to protect the youth.
This is the second controversial comment she has made on live-in relationships. She had made similar comments at the convocation of Jannayak Chandrasekhar University in Ballia a few days ago.
“To see the consequences of live-in, go to orphanages”
In a speech in Ballia, she said, “If you want to know the consequences of live-in relationships, look at orphanages. There, 15-20 year old girls are seen with one-year-old children.”
On the same platform, she also expressed concern about drug addiction among the youth.
