
News Telugu: The Collegium of the Supreme Court of India recently took a major decision on the transfers of judges of High Courts across the country. Total 1Transfer of 4 judgesIt has decided to transfer three of its judges to the Andhra Pradesh High Court, recommending them to the Supreme Court. This decision was approved by the Collegium meeting headed by the Chief Justice of India, Justice BR Gavai.
Three people coming to AP High Court
The list includes Gujarat High Court judge Justice Manavendranath Rai, Allahabad High Court judge Justice D. Ramesh, and Calcutta High Court judge Justice Shubhendu Samanta. They will take charge of the AP High Court as soon as the President’s order on their transfer is issued . It is worth noting that two of these three judges are from Andhra Pradesh.
Justice Manavendranath Roy – hails from Vizianagaram
Justice Manavendranath Roy , a native of Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district , completed his law education at MVP Law College, Visakhapatnam. He started his career as an advocate in 1988 and was appointed as a District Sessions Judge in 2002. He held key positions as Registrar General in the Joint High Court from 2015 to 2018. Later, he was appointed as a judge in the AP High Court in 2019 and then transferred to the Gujarat High Court. Now he will once again return to the state High Court.
Justice D. Ramesh – Lawyer from Chittoor district
Justice D. Ramesh, a native of Kammapalli in Madanapalle mandal of Chittoor district, studied law at VR Law College, Nellore. He joined the bar in 1990 and served as a government advocate and as a standing counsel. He was appointed as a judge in the AP High Court in 2020 and transferred to the Allahabad High Court in 2023. Now he will return to serve in the AP High Court.
Justice Shubhendu Samantha – from West Bengal
Justice Shubhendu Samanta, a native of West Bengal, completed his law education from the University of Calcutta. He started practicing as an advocate in the Tamluk Court and was later appointed as a judicial officer. He served as a special CBI court judge and also as the Chief Judge of the Kolkata City Sessions Court. In 2022, he was appointed as an additional judge of the Calcutta High Court. Now he has been transferred to the AP High Court .
