Abu Dhabi has been named the safest city in the world, according to the Numbeo Crime Index 2025. Abu Dhabi achieved this feat due to factors such as low crime rates, the use of technology to provide greater security to its citizens, and transparency in governance. Other Gulf cities such as Doha, Dubai, and Sharjah also made it into the top 10.
Asian countries dominate the list of top cities
Taipei (Taiwan), Muscat (Oman), Manama (Bahrain), Trondheim and The Hague (Netherlands) are among the top 10 safest cities. These cities have succeeded in improving their safety standards. This is mainly due to their excellence in aspects such as public property protection, CCTV networks, rapid police response systems and cyber security.
Ahmedabad ranks first in India
Ahmedabad in Gujarat has been named the safest city in India. It is followed by Jaipur, Coimbatore, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Noida and Delhi. Hyderabad is proud to be one of the safest cities in the country. The city’s smart city projects, efficient police system and traffic management have all contributed to improving safety.
