
Maoist leader Narla Srividya arrested: Detailed details
The arrest of Narla Srividya , a member of the Maoist party’s state committee and a key woman leader, by the Miyapur police has become a topic of discussion across the state. Srividya, who has been suffering from ill health for some time, was being treated in Hafizpet, Hyderabad, and the police monitored her movements. The police confirmed her arrest in the wake of concerns from civil society groups. Madhapur Zone DSP Vineeth disclosed this and said that there is a reward of Rs. 5 lakh on Srividya. Srividya background and rise in the Maoist movement
Narla Srividya alias Rupa alias Karuna is an educated woman from Tirumalapuram village of Peddakotthapalli mandal of Nagarkurnool district. She completed her B.Tech from JNTU. Her father was a teacher, while her brother Ravi Sharma and sister Sridevi were key leaders in the Maoist movement in the past. Inspired by her brother, Srividya became attracted to the Maoist party and joined the People’s War affiliate in 1992.As a member of the Chaitanya Mahila SamakhyaShe joined the Maoist party fully in 2006 and worked extensively in various areas like Visakhapatnam, Malkangiri, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Kanker, Chhattisgarh. Srividya is married to Takkalapalli Vasudevarao alias Asanna, a Maoist leader who played a key role in the murder case of IPS officer Umesh Chandra. She is currently the executive member of the Dandakaranya Special Zone Committee. According to the DSP, a criminal case was registered against her in 2019 under the LB Nagar police station limits. Srividya’s arrest is being considered a major setback for the Maoist leadership.

After the Miyapur police took Srividya into custody, civic groups expressed serious concern over her non-prosecution in court. Due to this pressure, the police officially confirmed her arrest. Madhapur Zone DSP Vineet said that Srividya had a reward of Rs. 5 lakh on her head and was a key Maoist leader. After she was produced in the LB Nagar court, she was remanded on the orders of the judge. Experts believe that this arrest will significantly disrupt the activities of the Maoists, especially in the Dandakaranya area. The information obtained from Srividya is likely to further help the police in cracking the Maoist network .
