The havoc of rains continues in Andhra Pradesh. The heavy rains that have been falling continuously since last week till this week are causing serious problems to the people of the state. While streams and canals are already overflowing in many districts, the transport system has been damaged. The impact of floods is increasing, especially in the Krishna river catchment areas. Due to the rains in the upper areas, the flood flow in the Krishna river has increased significantly. Currently, 3,03,000 cusecs of water is reaching the Prakasam Barrage. To control the flood pressure, the authorities are lifting 69 gates of the barrage and releasing 2,97,000 cusecs of water downstream. Due to this release of water, the people of the low-lying areas in the Krishna catchment areas have been advised to be alert.
Fishermen have been ordered not to go fishing.
Officials are warning that the flood flow from Pulichintala is likely to increase further. They said that the water level may rise within the next two to three hours, and that there is a possibility of issuing the first flood warning . In this context, officials have already issued an alert to all departments. Officials have already alerted the people of the Krishna river basin. Fishermen have been ordered not to go hunting. People in the low-lying areas of the joint Krishna district have also been alerted. In the joint Krishna district, rains are falling continuously due to low pressure. People are facing difficulties due to rains in Mylavaram, Gannavaram, Pamarru, Nandigama, Jaggayyapet, Thiruvur, Penamalur, Machilipatnam, and Avanigadda areas. On the other hand, heavy rains are also falling in Eluru district. The flood level in Godavari is increasing due to water coming from above. The government has declared a holiday for all schools in Eluru district. District Collector K Vetriselvi has issued orders regarding the holidays. Due to heavy rains.. the flood level in Godavari has increased. The Collector has advised the people to be alert. The Gundi stream flowing between Kukkunur and Dacharam is overflowing, disrupting vehicular movement. The authorities have alerted the people living in low-lying areas in advance .
