Breaking News – YCP: YCP is harmful to AP health – Lokesh

Minister Nara Lokesh revealed that the government has introduced the PPP (Public Private Partnership) policy as part of developing the medical education sector in Andhra Pradesh. He clarified that the purpose of this project is not to sell government resources, but to make investors partners in development by utilizing them. He said that this policy has been adopted with the aim of completing the construction of medical colleges in the state at the earliest. “In the past, the construction of medical colleges used to be delayed for decades. Now, with public-private partnership, medical education will be available in all districts within a short period of time,” Lokesh explained.

According to Lokesh, during the previous government, only 42% seats were allotted to poor students, but now under the PPP model, 50% seats will be allotted to government students completely free of cost. He said that through this scheme, poor and middle class students will get big opportunities in medical education. “The government is not selling land or assets. We are developing the education sector by using government buildings and infrastructure in partnership with private investors,” he said. He stressed that this is a decision taken keeping in mind the public interest.

On this occasion, Lokesh criticized the YSRCP party. “The YSRCP leaders do not understand development. They are looking at every decision that is good for the poor from a political perspective. The real threat to the state’s health system has come because of the YSRCP’s attitude,” he said. He said that the burden on the government exchequer can be reduced through the PPP approach and public services can be expanded. According to experts, if this project is implemented properly, Andhra Pradesh is expected to soon achieve self-sufficiency in medical education.
