The protest was taken out against the government’s decision to hand over medical colleges to the private sector in the state. A large public group and YCP activists are likely to participate at Narsipatnam Medical College. Jagan is demanding that medical education be kept in the public sector with the aim of providing free medical services to all people like government hospitals.Discover more

Jagan will strongly condemn the conversion of medical education into a private business as part of this protest. According to him, during the YS Rajasekhara Reddy era, schemes like ‘Arogya Sri’ were introduced with the intention of protecting the health rights of the people. But the current government is abandoning that direction and is calling it an anti-people move to hand over medical education to institutions that charge high fees. In this context, students, medical professionals and social organizations are supporting Jagan’s protest.

The police have given conditional permission for the Narsipatnam visit. Heavy police deployment was made to maintain peace and security during the protest rally. After Jagan’s speech, he will appeal to the government to roll back the privatization decision and take steps to ensure access to medical education for the children of the poor. Political analysts say that through this program, the YSRCP is once again expressing its strong stance on the public health policy.
